Film and Video Audio Recording Surround Sound Graphic Design
5.1 mixing refers to the separation of audio into five speakers and a sub-woofer, as opposed to a traditional two-track stereo mix. Once a luxury of the wealthy, surround systems have recently become a fixture in the household as ubiquitous as the microwave oven. The sensation of being surrounded by sound has become expected by the average consumer.
There are only two 5.1 mixing studios in the city of Memphis and New School is one of them. Built from the ground up by Doug Easley and Sean Faust, everything in the 5.1 room from the 46" monitor to the high-performance JBL surround system to the carefully engineered acoustic space is built with surround mixing in mind. We have since done mixes for Memphis Heat, Daylight Fades, Crag Brewer's The Poor & Hungry and Bob Compton's The FInland Phenomenon.
Surround mixes are also steadily gaining popularity with music aficionados and many artists are offering their albums with 5.1 mixes. Don't just mix your audio, bring it to life. We'd love to talk to you about your 5.1 project. As always, consultation is free and we'd love to give you a demo of what 5.1 mixing can do for you.
